By helping companies build and launch their products without building recurring liabilities, by mitigating many risks of failure, by increasing success factors and by turning the founders into leading entrepreneurs, we introduce companies to the market 'right side up'. While cash is not our primary investment vehicle, we create many opportunities for follow-on and co-investment by traditional investors.

The investment options Seed Accelerator™ offfers:

  1. Become a co-investor in Seed Accelerator;

  2. Become an early-stage co-investor in one of our portfolio companies;

  3. Become a co-investor in one of our portfolio companies at or after one of our Demo Days.

Investing directly in Seed Accelerator™

Investing directly into Seed Accelerator means co-investing into an increasing number of qualified and low-risk technology startups and later-stage tech ventures with high return on investment potential! The benefits of investing directly into Seed Accelerator are numerous and overall make it is a very compelling business proposition for any prospective investment partner:

  • The investors will own an equity stake in Seed Accelerator Pty Ltd, which indirectly will give them an equity stake in any start-up and later-stage tech venture we invest in. As such the probability of making a successful investment is maximised as is the possible ROI.
  • Investing in Seed Accelerator means actually creating a new market in the Asia Pacific region, thus ensuring the creation of a continuous deal-flow. Seed Acccelerators structure is designed to provide a clear and transparent framework in a manner which minimises the investment overhead and maximises the successful growth and exits of the start-ups we help grow and the businesses we accelerate.
  • Members of our investor network are invited to participate in our selection meetings, where they get a first look at exciting technology companies before they hit the market.
  • Seed Accelerator offers compelling investment terms and conditions and a very healthy and highly compelling return on investment!
  • Seed Accelerator offers investors to become part of its ecosystem, which means filtered access to great startups to further invest in or advise to as mentor or director.

How you can invest in Seed Accelerator™ portfolio companies

If you are interested in participating and co-investing in Seed Accelerator, than please contact us for further details and a further company introduction by our founder and CEO (Patrick Driessen).

For some of our portfolio companies we will seek and select co-investors to provide these startups or later-stage tech ventures with additional growth capital; either equity capital or debt capital. The extra funding is most often used as working capital to invest in the acceleration of their global growth. We prefer to co-invest together with angel investors, enterprise organisations and venture capital firms. The minimum investment usually is $150.000.

These are some of the key selection criteria we have defined to select the best co-investors:

  • Must qualify as a “Sophisticated Investor” as defined in Chapter 6D by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC). Please click here for more information.
  • Willingness and ablility to work collaboratively with other co-investors and accept the transparant investment protocols that we have defined.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the global growth objectives and evolutionary nature of the Seed Accelerator organisation.
  • Possess networks, skills and experience that could contribute to the success of the portfolio companies we elect to invest in.
  • Long-term investment focus: most of our portfolio companies will need at least 2-5 years to execute on their accelerated growth and exit strategy.

Can any investor invest in Seed Accelerator™ portfolio companies?

As long as they are a qualified investor, anyone can invest in the companies we accelerate. So any mentor, corporate or entrepreneur is free to invest. We really love it when other investors also want to invest in the Seed Accelerator portfolio companies, because it means we are doing our job well!

Potential investors for our Seed Accelerator™ Demo Days

For technology and early-stage focused investors, we offer pre-qualified and high potential deal flow! We organise Demo Days at various locations (Sydney, Singapore, Silicon Valley) twice a year at which the latest batch of startups present to a select number of qualified investors from around the globe. For these Demo Days high net-worth investors, angels investors, VC's and institutional investors may contact us so we can discuss if they will meet our selection criteria.

How it works: After 13 weeks of product development and building their new business, in week 14 all the startups on our Startup Seed Program will get the opportunity to pitch to a range of pre-selected potential investors on Demo Days which will be organised by Seed Accelerator. The Seed Accelerator team will pre-select as large number of angel investors and venture capital firms and organise Demo Days in Sydney, Silicon Valley and Singapore.

  • Angel Investors: Private lenders, often local business leaders or even Seed Accelerator Mentors, who have a strong interest in developing the local economy and getting a return on their investment. Funding is typically smaller scale in the $250,000 - $1,000,000 range but may vary depending on the opportunity and expected return. The key benefits of taking funding from angel investors are: they contribute skills, time and cash that entrepreneurs typically need. And their appropriate experience reduces risks and can help identify new opportunities.
  • Venture Capital/Corporates/Private Equity: Private lenders, often larger firms, looking for high growth potential opportunities that require significant capital. These lenders prefer to invest in companies that have already shown some return or feasibility in the market. Equity ownership including a majority stake and management team approval are typically required secure the funding.

The type of people and ventures Seed Accelerator™ invests in

We are very selective in how we invest our time, energy and resources, hence our strict program selection criteria and thorough application process. We mainly invest in exceptional technology companies with the potential to increase our investment tenfold within 2-3 years. We only want to invest in the best and we like to partner with exceptional people who founded tech ventures that have:

  • Clarity of Purpose: Summarize the company's business on the back of a business card.
  • Large Markets: Address existing markets poised for rapid growth or change. A market on the path to a $1B potential allows for error and time for real margins to develop.
  • Rich Customers: Target customers who will move fast and pay a premium for a unique offering.
  • Focus: Customers will only buy a simple product with a singular value proposition.
  • Blue Oceans: A product or service which is unique and can create an uncontested market space, allowing not to compete with rivals, but to make them irrelevant.
  • Pain Killers: Pick the one thing that is of burning importance to the customer then delight them with a compelling solution.
  • Think Differently: Constantly challenge conventional wisdom. Take the contrarian route. Create novel solutions. Outwit the competition.
  • Team DNA: All team members are the smartest or cleverest in their domain. "A" level founders attract an "A" level team.
  • Brains & Balls: The willingness, ability and power to fight and work hard to conquer the world.
  • Agility: Stealth and speed will usually help beat-out large companies.
  • Passion: Sincere and in-depth passion and commitment about bringing their idea alive and to help change the world.
  • Frugality: Focus spending on what's critical. Spend only on the priorities and maximize profitability.
  • Inferno: Start with only a little money. It forces discipline and focus. A huge market with customers yearning for a product developed by great engineers and designers requires very little firepower.
