Seed Accelerator Founder Organises 7 Successful FIFA World Cup Party Events in Sydney
Sydney, July - Less than a week before the first match of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South-Africa, Seed Accelerator founder Patrick Driessen found out that nobody in Sydney was organising a special event at which the Dutch football fans could watch all World Cup matches of their Netherlands football team. Known for making the impossible possible, within 5 days Patrick created a new company brand (Dutchdown), created a new event brand (Holland House Sydney), had a new logo and corporate identity designed, signed up various A-brand sponsors (e.g. ING Direct, Grolsch/Pacific Breweries, Ra
bobank and Taxback), negotiated the exclusive rights to the largest venue in Sydney's Darling Harbour (Home the Venue), created a compelling entertainment program with live bands and DJ's and started selling tickets online.
Because the Netherlands team made it through to the finals (against Spain), Patrick and his team of volunteer helpers organised 7 successful Holland House party events at which they welcomed almost 5,000 guests! At each party several bands, DJ's and entertainers helped to create a unique and vibrant atmosphere. Various radio stations and TV stations (e.g. SBS, ABC, Channel 7, Channel 9) broadcasted live from the Holland House in Darling Harbour. 15 Year Old Cardnap Founder Does it Again: Launches iPad Case Finder website
The youngest startup founder mentored by Seed Accelerator - Lachy Groom, from Perth, Australia - continues to proof the world that he's a serious and hyper-active serial entrepreneur! While his Cardnap giftcard
exchange web business continues to grow around the world, Groom has started on a side project (his 4th startup, mind you) named iPad Case Finder. You can read the full story here.
Meanwhile Lachy also works on optimising his popular and addictive iPhone app iSlice, which will be relaunched within a week. Hear, hear for Lachy!
Seed Accelerator™ startup Cardnap in the news: Forget Pokemon. Fifteen year-old Lachy Groom created his business swapping ‘gift cards’.
Sydney, April 15th - This week Seed Accelerator™ portfolio company Cardnap has been featured in various printed media, online media and in radio interviews at two Australian radio stations. A good example is the story on the Anthill Online website:
Age has never been a restriction when it comes to entrepreneurship and that certainly rings true in the case of Perth entrepreneur Lachy Groom. At only 15 years old, Groom is onto his second business Cardnap.com which was launched in March this year. His first business, an online design company, was successfully sold to an American buyer.
Cardnap is an online business offering customers the chance to trade in their unused Australian gift vouchers for cash or store credit at any of their associated stores at a discounted rate. The site supports more than 45 stores including Westfield, David Jones, Myer and Woolworths. Recognising that an opportunity lay in the fact that, according to the Australian Consumers’ Association (now known as Choice), one in three Australian gift card vouchers expires before being used, Groom is capitalising on the potential of this surplus of unused credit.
